self-esteem – Rock Your Relationship with Robyn Smith https://consciousthrivingrelationships.com For Women Seeking Healthy Love Tue, 18 Dec 2018 20:32:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7.1 No Mistakes, No Failures https://consciousthrivingrelationships.com/no-mistakes-no-failures/ Sun, 09 Dec 2018 02:31:50 +0000 http://consciousthrivingrelationships.com/?p=179 Do you ever feel stressed when you can’t seem to accomplish everything you set out to do?

Well, if so, it’s not a surprise.

You see, when we have high expectations of ourselves, we tend to be in a pattern of pushing and putting a lot of pressure on ourselves to achieve these expectations.  And this creates stress and anxiety in our bodies.

On top of that, this pattern is often coupled with feeling like we’re not good enough or a failure when we don’t achieve our goals.  And sometimes, even when we do meet the challenges, we may raise the bar again so we keep feeling like we can never win.  It’s a vicious cycle of disappointments and feeling like a failure and not good enough.  No fun at all.

Does this sound familiar?

Unfortunately, we can’t always see when we’re doing this.  We may truly believe that we Can accomplish these Herculean feats, comparing ourselves to others who are achieving bigger things.

And we may tell ourselves that if we only were smarter, stronger, better, etc., we could do it.

And we may think that if we actually do it, we’ll finally feel better about ourselves and have proven our worthiness.

Even though we may feel better and get a confidence boost when we overcome the challenge, this process is not necessarily a healthy route to feeling “enough.”

You see, if we base our self-confidence and self-worth on what we accomplish, we’re setting ourselves up for failure, because of course, we can’t do it all and we’re bound to mess up and disappoint.

But the true transformation comes when we can learn to value ourselves REGARDLESS of our accomplishments on the material plane.

When we value and appreciate our inherent goodness, the kindness of our hearts and our altruistic intentions instead, then our self-worth runs much deeper and can’t be shaken by not meeting a goal or a decision to pull out of the game.

When our value is based on our Essence qualities, like love, kindness, compassion and motivation, then we’re way less likely to spiral downward into feeling like a failure and the depression that may accompany it.

In fact, in my view, I don’t think we CAN fail or that we can Be a failure.  Instead, I think we may miss the mark sometimes or have some hard and difficult lessons to learn.  But we can’t fail.

What if every “mistake” was another opportunity to learn instead of a failure?

What if there were No Mistakes?  No failures?

May you be kind, compassionate and understanding with yourself.

And may you learn to value your inner strengths and positive qualities, beyond your worldly accomplishments.

Namasté,

Robyn Smith
