Adventure Fosters REconnection

Happy New Year!

I just returned from 3 weeks in Costa Rica with Patrick.  This year, instead of staying in one place the whole time, we did some travel and stayed in 4 different locations. One thing I appreciated about this trip was how the spirit of adventure affected my attitude and our bond.  For me, when I’m in the adventurous spirit, I feel open, curious and excited.  And when we’re both feeling this way, we have a lot more fun together.  I felt especially felt this way on the day we took a drive up the coast and stopped at a few beaches and checked out another community.  I love that experience of seeing everything through the eyes of discovery, like a child in a science museum – with lots of WOW moments.

I think couples need this kind of discovery together to thrive.  Otherwise, we find ourselves in that ho-hum of just another day doing the same old things.  We need to mix it up, try something different, whether it’s travel across the globe or a trip to the museum or a new restaurant or concert.  New experiences bring wonder and curiosity.  There’s a freshness in the air, a vitality that emerges, like the wonder of a child.  And when we share that with our sweetie, we deepen our bond.  Relationships grow through shared experiences and when we broaden the variety of experiences, we create new ways to connect.

Here’s a short video I made about this from a platform above the place we were staying on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica this January.

Take a look and let me know:  what type of new experience would you like to share with your sweetie this year?
